Barcelona must respond carefully after Roony Bardghji’s injury setback
Roony Bardghji has undergone successful knee surgery, leaving Barcelona to balance squad depth with a patient approach to his recovery.
Barcelona have confirmed that Roony Bardghji has undergone successful surgery following a serious right-knee injury. The club has not announced a return date, so unsupported predictions about an exact recovery schedule should be avoided.
The immediate priority must be the player’s rehabilitation. Barcelona should resist placing public pressure on a young footballer to return before he is fully prepared.
From a squad perspective, the injury removes an option from an important area of the pitch. Bardghji can operate on the right, where Barcelona often rely on attackers capable of receiving the ball wide before moving inside.
Without him, the coaching staff may need to redistribute minutes among established first-team players and academy prospects. That does not automatically mean Barcelona must enter the transfer market. A rushed signing could create a long-term squad problem simply to cover a temporary shortage.
The club should first examine whether its current players can provide the necessary depth. A flexible forward capable of operating on either wing may help, while an academy player could receive carefully managed opportunities during domestic matches.
Barcelona’s approach must also account for workload. Several leading players have recently returned to preseason training following international duty. Asking the same attackers to play continuously could create additional fitness concerns later in the campaign.
Bardghji’s absence is disappointing because preseason would have offered him an opportunity to strengthen his role within the team. However, his long-term development matters more than winning an early competition for minutes.
For Barcelona, the situation tests both medical patience and squad planning. The sensible response is to support the player, avoid unsupported recovery predictions and use the club’s existing depth before making an expensive transfer decision.
The season will continue without Bardghji for now. Barcelona’s responsibility is to ensure that, when he eventually returns, he is prepared for a lasting comeback rather than a hurried one.
